NameRailway EstateDescriptionTownsville Suburb: The suburb takes its name from the Railway Estate subdivision developed by Messrs. Griffith and Purves during the mid 1880s. They purchased the land from L.F. Sachs, who had acquired the property in 1877 from the Estate of the late Robert Towns.
