In 1899 at 18 years old, Myra opened her own dental practice in Brisbane, becoming the first female dentist in Queensland. In 1901, following a period of professional travel around the North of Queensland, Myra relocated to Townsville, opening a dental practice in Flinders Street where she practiced for the next 15 years. Myra was also an accomplished sportswoman, participating in gymnastics, rowing, golf, sailing, horse riding, signalling and bush walking during her time in Townsville.
