Seaview Hotel
DESCRIPTION
Name Seaview HotelDescriptionThis building replaced the first Seaview Hotel built in 1889. It was built in 1929 to the design of Townsville architect Joe Rooney, descendant of Matthew Rooney of Rooney & Co. and Rooney Brothers, prominent saw millers, timber merchants, contractors and furniture makers. Joe Rooney designed numerous buildings in north Queensland.
A two-storeyed rendered masonry hotel building with rounded corner and high parapet, and bank of windows at lower level. Lower verandah is arcaded with wide curved arches. Central entrance is arched. Upper level has verandah enclosed with metal balustrading and awning. Originally this building was of exposed brick with painted rendered decoration.
