Name85 Images for 85 YearsDescriptionThe Townsville public library is the oldest free public library in the state, 2023 marks our 85th Birthday.
To celebrate this auspicious event the staff of the library were asked to nominate images from our vast repository of donated photographs.
Images were selected for their relationship to special people or places, for their inherit fun or beauty, or simply for the curiosity they inspired in our staff to learn more about our collective memory and history.
The photographs held within our Local History Collection represent the generosity of our community, each image a donated gift to be shared and preserved for all generations.
The staff at the Local Collection would like to extend our thanks to the those who gave their time and their recollections to this project along with the hundreds of community members that have entrusted us with their photographs and memorabilia over the many decades.
