Name Telecasters North Queensland Ltd DescriptionTelecasters North Queensland Ltd (TNQ) is an Australian Television Station, licensed to, and serving to the regional areas of Queensland. The Station is owned and operated by Southern Cross 10. TNQ-7 Townsville was launched on November 1, 1962.
NQ7’s studios and transmitter were initially based on Mount Stuart, on the outskirts of Townsville but was badly damaged during Cyclone Althea in 1971. It took 5 days before TNQ7 was back on air, and 6 months before the station was able to return to Mount Stuart.
In 1977, TNQ-7 acquired the former Queen’s Hotel located on the Southern side of The Strand and returning into Wickham Street. The exterior was restored, and the interior converted into television and radio studios and offices. Geolocation[1] Address8-12,The Strand,Townsville,4810,Australia
