Name Townsville Central SchoolDescriptionTownsville Central School is the first recognised school in Townsville, under the jurisdiction of the Board of Education. The National School opened on 11 March 1869. The school officially opened in the building that had been the Burdekin and Flinders Hospital on the Strand. The school was open to boys and girls until 1 January 1876 when it was divided into a Boys, Girls and an Infant School.
