Jeanie is daughter of Captain George and Charlotte Caldersmith, born in London. Jeanie travelled with her family to Australia in 1885.
Before her marriage to Brice Henry on 3 June 1908, Jeanie worked as a schoolteacher. She later Joined her husband in Bellenden and then Wingfield. Mrs Henry gave invaluable assistance to her husband on his successful efforts to have a sugar mill established in the area, and later in his cattle fattening experiments and schemes for developing the north.
George Caldersmith
Born in London Jan 10, 1856
George began teaching at the Townsville Central School in December 1888 before retiring as headmaster 33 years later in 1921, moving to first Ravenshoe and then Tully.
In London, George put in seven years of service in the third Middlesex volunteer artillery corps and then in Townsville he joined the third (Kennedy) Queensland regiment retiring with the rank of lieut-colonel.
Charlotte Caldersmith
Born in London 1848.
Charlotte married George in 1882 before travelling to Australia with George, Jeanie and their sister in early 1885 by the Torres Straits route.
Charlotte began teaching at the Townsville Central School for girls in December 1888 and retired 30 years later in June 1918.Place of BirthLondon
